Arts Week
We have all been immersed in ‘the Arts’ this week, and the children have thoroughly enjoyed a variety of activities within their classes such as creating artwork, writing poetry and discussing feelings evoked by music.
The theme for the week has been ‘Identity’ and the children have been celebrating what makes each of us unique. Throughout the school, 2D or 3D self-portraits have been created through a variety of mediums. Some classes have used clay to make nature inspired faces, or as a tiled base for adding portraits onto. Other classes have been inspired by artists such as Surabhi Gaikwad and Frida Kahlo or through their class topic. Some children have also been developing their photography skills, whether this be learning how to take a photo on an iPad or using photography to create a class collage. We look forward to sharing all our work with you on our school Open Day.
The children also had fun in abundance whilst taking part in Dance workshops this week to commemorate Windrush Day. The Caribbean music was vibrant, loud and an absolute joy to dance to. It was wonderful to see the children dancing with such excitement and enthusiasm.
