The children have had another fun-filled week in Reception. Continuing with the theme of Dinosaurs, they thoroughly enjoyed listening to ‘Andy’s Raps’, finding out many different dinosaur facts. Did you know? A Stegasaurus has spikes at the end of its tail and these are called its Thagomiser!
In Maths, the focus has been on problem solving using the 2 different stories - How Many Legs? and Mr Gumpy’s Outing. With the latter story, the children had to think of different ways to put 8 legs in the boat. They had some fabulous ideas of arranging different animals and people with two or four legs. You can continue this problem solving at home. How many legs are in your house altogether? How many legs can fit on the sofa? How many legs can fit in the car? How many pet legs are there altogether? Try it out and investigate!
In RE we have finished the Summer term topic - Why do Christians believe Jesus is special? We have focused on asking the children who is special to them and then looked at some of the different things Jesus did that made him special. The message Jesus sends to us all that we should do is ‘Love One Another’.
