Spirited Arts Week
We have been immersed in ‘the Arts’ this week.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed a variety of activities within their classes such as creating collage, writing poetry and discussing feelings evoked by music. Father Martin has been to visit many classes to see the learning that has taken place. We have seen a wonderful array of both individual and collaborative artistic creations, from beautiful rangoli patterns to lotus flowers, paper mache religious symbols to places of worship and candle holders. Nursery and Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 have chosen the Spirited Arts theme ‘Celebrations: Big Days / Big Ideas’ and have studied elements of Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam. The theme “We have far more in common with each other than that which divides us” has been chosen by Years 1 and 6. The children have produced some wonderful self-portraits and images linked to Pentecost. Reception class opted for the theme, ‘God’s Good Earth? - beautiful world, wonderful God’ studying ‘The Creation’ with a focus on animals – bees and whales, linked to the topic of Minibeasts and Megabeasts.
We look forward to sharing all our work with you on our school Open Day.
