Zebra crossing decision made
The North Kingston Neighbourhood committee met this week and the Elm Road zebra crossing was on the agenda.
After a lengthy discussion on the crossing, including a presentation of the recent consultation results, councillors voted unanimously in FAVOUR of the crossing and it was, therefore, approved for implementation. Obviously, we are very happy with this decision and we look forward to the crossing being installed on Elm Road.
Whilst we are extremely pleased with this, local residents from Elm Road reported their safety concerns at the meeting which we would like to make parents aware of:
- Do not park on the zig zags - even for a moment to drop off children.
- Do not turn around in the road - this causes traffic jams and potential issues with crossing.
- Do not park and leave your engine on whilst waiting for the gate to open at 8.30am - this is not good for the environment or for car engines.
Thank you in advance for following these as it will greatly improve the safety of our children plus help keep our relations with our neighbours positive.
