Hindleap Warren '18
Below are the daily blogs of the trip.
Monday
The children and staff left St Luke's this morning for the start of their residential trip to Hindleap Warren. All the children were very keen to get away, looking forward to the many activities they will be experiencing at HLW. The children arrived safely (via Hindhead!) and have begun the job of making their beds.
The children had a really good afternoon with some orienteering and map work followed by a night walk in the evening. It was rather chilly so the hot chocolate at the end was very welcome. The children are all eating incredibly well and because they were tired from all the walking, they were all asleep by 9.15pm.
Tuesday
The children slept well after the activities from yesterday. They are all looking forward to activities today including a forest adventure in the morning followed by shelter building and climbing in the afternoon. The children all have swimming this evening to enjoy.
Wednesday
The children really enjoyed their swim last night, having fun in the swimming pool. The food at Hindleap is very good and the children enjoyed their breakfasts this morning. Apparently, it is a continental breakfast tomorrow! The children are eating really well and are experts at tidying up afterwards.
Mr Dutton and Mr Bates arrived this morning and spent some time with the children. Mr Bates was a little disappointed though as he was beaten by Mr Dutton in the archery championships! Mr Bates will remain with the children for the rest of the week (no doubt practising his archery skills!). The children had lots of exciting activities today including canoeing in the pool and high adventure. They are also looking forward to tonight's talent show.
Thursday
The Talent Show last night was another brilliant evening of entertainment, with all children and staff enjoying the various acts. The evening was preceded by a range of activities such as team challenges, canoeing and high adventure. It was a little challenging to wake the children this morning though! I think they are a bit tired from all the excitement.
Today the children are continuing with several activities in their groups (including the zip wire and team challenges) before undertaking the greatest challenge of the week – packing their suitcases tonight! It will be an early night tonight, ready to return tomorrow morning. Arrival time is estimated at 11.00am.
Friday
The children had a good final sleep last night at Hindleap after packing their suitcases. There is a bit of a warning in that some clothes are being returned rather more muddier than parents might remember! After breakfast, the children will be saying their their sad farewells to Hindleap Warren and began their journey back to school.
