While World Book Day may have come and gone, the memories of the day’s activities still linger. Minds were put to the test when the children worked together to answer questions in their own ‘Book Bonanza Quiz’, and to top it off, Year 6 spent time in the afternoon sharing books with children from Reception – a role they undertook with great pride. It was wonderful to witness their engagement and empathy towards the younger children, sharing their knowledge and demonstrating the values fundamental to us here at St. Luke’s.

The children are well underway with their new topic ‘Tales of the River Bank’, having undertaken research to reinforce the processes involved in the water cycle before plotting the stages of a river as it moves from source to mouth. Why not dig out those maps and atlases at home to help your child locate the source and mouth of the River Thames?

Along with getting to grips with algebraic problem solving and reasoning in maths, the class have worked collaboratively in table groups to produce an artistic response to Benjamin Britten’s ‘Storm’ Interlude from ‘Peter Grimes’ which is the stimulus for their music making this term.  A Jackson Pollock-esque creation stole the show!
