Thursday 21st July 2022

During the Autumn term the children thoroughly enjoyed participating in many activities which encompassed all the aspects of our topic. They enjoyed visits to the classroom from both the police and parents. The children discovered the role the police have in our local community and even tried on a few police outfits! Through visits from many parents in Diversity week, the children found out first-hand about different cultures and language through stories, songs and rhymes -what a lovely way to learn! The children were also thoroughly excited to take a little walk to the local post box and send home the Christmas Cards they had made in school. The finale of the term was the children’s Christmas Nursery Rhyme Nativity. We were impressed by their bravery – speaking and singing in front of a large audience.

In Spring, the children loved participating in many ‘Now Press Play’ role plays using the pink headphones and thoroughly enjoyed their own Fairy Tale Ball at the end of term. The children also participated in the Big Schools Bird Watch. From this they created their own masterpiece which is now on display in the school hall. There were over 21,000 submissions to the Royal Academy of Art’s Young Artist Summer Show, so for the children’s work to be accepted as one of the online exhibition pieces, is a significant achievement.

The Summer term started with a visit from Zoolab. The children found out lots of interesting facts which they confidently shared with you in our fabulous class assembly.  We also successfully ‘grew’ butterflies. They all emerged from the cocoons and the children released them in the front garden. Our main trip out of school this year was another garden trip, this time to Father Martin’s vicarage garden. The children were so excited to see mini-beasts such as bees, birds, snails and slugs. The rest of the term has been filled with exciting events such a Jubilee celebrations, Maths days and the children’s first ever school Sports Day.

What a busy year we have had!
