Blog for Friday 4th October 2024

In English, Year 3 finished the book ‘Ug’ by Raymond Briggs. It is formatted as a comic book. As a result of this, we created comic strips to tell the tale of a Stone Age character. Some ideas included; a Stone Age character born to be hunter just like his family before him. But there is one problem. He does not wish to hunt. Instead, he wanted to create a sanctuary for the animals of the Stone Age.

In Maths, we have looked at number lines and using the greater than and less than symbol to compare numbers. We looked at estimation, thinking about where different numbers go on a range of number lines. We have been recalling our 3 times tables and have discussed the importance of learning your times tables and the many things it can help with!

In Science, we conducted an experiment into the permeability of soil. In groups we experimented with sandy, loam and clay soil. We put soil into a funnel and poured water onto it. The quicker the water went into the cylinder the more permeable the soil is.

In History we have been preparing our class assembly, thinking about historical facts to include, as well as delivering lines with expression and creating strong characters. Did you know that in the Stone Age, some clothes were made from stinging nettles? Did you know that in the Stone Age, dogs started to live with humans?
