Blog for Friday 25th October 2024

To conclude our English topic of fairy tales, the children had a wonderful virtual meeting with Bethan Woollvin, author of Rapunzel. It was so interesting to hear all about the process of writing Rapunzel, how she comes up with the painting and we even got a tour of her studio! The children sat and listened to Bethan extremely well and asked her some fantastic questions. A highlight for the children was taking part in a drawing workshop. Bethan took us through a step-by-step guide to drawing Rapunzel in the tower as well as the witch on a wanted poster. A few children read aloud their instruction writing from a few weeks ago which really impressed Bethan.

In PE, the children were able to use their skills of chest and bounce bases in a game situation. They played a mini tournament and worked in their teams very well.

The highlight of this week has been the Harvest Festival. We focussed on the potato as part of the theme ‘foods that are grown’. The children recited a poem about potatoes feeling excited about harvest time.

Well done Year 2! You have worked so hard this half of term. We hope you have a restful holiday.
