What a jam packed 2 weeks in reception! So many different events happening. We learnt all about Diwali – the Hindu festival of light and looked into detail at how they decorate their homes with rangoli patters. We made our own rangoli patterns and filled them in with chalk outside in our garden area. It was so much fun!
We then looked at bonfire night and realised why we use fireworks to celebrate- how it represents the explosives which didn’t go off in the gunpowder plot by Guy Fawkes. We made our own firework paintings by cutting cardboard rolls in strop and then using the top intact roll as a handle to use for printing. Then we added fuzzy pom poms and glitter to make them stand out and sparkle like real fireworks.
On Monday we remembered those who gave their lives and service in the war. We spoke about why we do the two minutes silence to honour them. We had many poppy themed activities such as maths counting, colour sorting and poppy pointillism painting to fit our theme of remembrance.
