Blog for Friday 27th September 2024

What a fun 2 weeks we have had in Reception. We have been looking at people who help us in our topic and have learnt a lot about the police force. We have looked at their uniforms and made our own police badges and have looked into disguises for when they go undercover.

In phonics we have been continuing learning our basic sounds of: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, g. We have learnt how to form them and started to segment and blend simple cvc words such as p-a-t pat, m-a-p map. We have really enjoyed our phonics sensory trays, hiding objects which start with our sounds within a rice tray.

In maths, we have continued to look at the matching shapes, objects and patterns and sort them into different sets depending on their properties. E.g. sorting them by shape, by size, colour and any other groups we can think of!

In RE, we have looked at what is precious to us. We thought about our favourite toys, foods and our families. We learnt that God thinks we are all precious to him.
