Year 5 Trip to Hindleap Warren
Year 5 pupils have the opportunity to visit Hindleap Warren in East Sussex in the autumn term. The week is full of challenging and exciting activities, including climbing, shelter building, archery and lots more. Everyone comes back with stories of significant achievement.
Below are the daily blogs of the trip.
Monday, 3rd October
The children and staff left St Luke's this morning for the start of their residential trip to Hindleap Warren. All the children were very keen to get away, looking forward to the many activities they will be experiencing at HLW.
The children arrived safely around 11:00am and have begun the arduous job of making their beds. This could take a while according to Mrs Felicien! More photos and updates to follow soon.
Tuesday, 4th October
The children slept really well yesterday, the extra long night walk may have had an influence on this! Prior to the walk the children begun their activities in their groups, including shelter building, adventure course, etc. As you can see from the photos, the children have already enjoyed getting muddy. There has been a new swimming pool built over the summer and the children were the first to make use of it. It is brilliant. The food yesterday was very good, with all children eating healthily.
Wednesday, 5th October
The children and staff woke up to a stunningly beautiful day. The children slept really well after enjoying lots of different activities, including archery, team challenges, climbing wall. All the children then had fun in the swimming pool with an evening swim. In fact all children were asleep by 9pm last night. The children were so tired from their exertions that the staff had to wake most of them up this morning! Today is another day packed with more activities including orienteering, zip wire. The children are looking forward to seeing Mrs Thomson, who will be joining the group this afternoon. This evening is a big evening as it is the Talent show, more about this tomorrow!
Thursday 6th October
The Talent Show last night was another superb evening of entertainment. There was an eclectic mix of singing, dancing, joke-telling, puppetry. A particular highlight of the evening was a song about a toad, which we all look forward to hearing at school. The singing was better than the standard of X Factor! The evening was preceded by a range of activities such as team challenge, orienteering and forest adventure. Today the children are continuing with several activities in their groups before undertaking the greatest challenge of the week – packing their suitcases tonight! After completing diary writing it will be an early night ready to return tomorrow morning. Arrival time is estimated at 11.00am.
