Friday 19 July
Like Fagin’s slight of hand, hiding his treasures from prying eyes, this final term has gone by in a bit of a blur, but it will be fondly remembered for the experiences shared and memories made.
A focus on the traditions and culture of Ancient Greece permeated through much of the learning, with a visit to the British Museum bringing knowledge to life and providing inspiration for the children’s own Greek clay pot designs created during ARTs week.
While SATs played a major role in proceedings, the breakfast sessions and end of week picnic in Richmond Park were what really brought the class together, with parents joining in on the fun too! Another opportunity to revel in each other’s company was on the day trip to Wissant, France. It was a fabulous day – a time to admire the scenery; partake in local cuisine; try out the odd French phrase or two and (most importantly) a chance to play on the beach.
Although the Orange Tree Theatre’s interpretation of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ was well received, nothing can compare to the children’s own performance of ‘Oliver’. It was not just the costumes that sparkled on stage, but the children themselves. Year 6 - whatever the future has in store, may you always be proud of everything you have achieved at St. Luke’s. Go out into the world with the belief that anything is possible, and always remember that “We'll celebrate the things we've done for years to come 'cause that's what friends, that's what friends are for”.
