The summer term has certainly been one to remember for year 3. The children started their much-anticipated swimming lessons and it has been amazing to see their progress since their first lesson. It has been a great way for them to enjoy themselves while keeping active and we hope they will continue to build on this skill.
This term has been packed with trips and workshops and the children have thoroughly enjoyed them. To enhance their understanding of their plants and flowers topic, they had the opportunity to visit Kew Gardens and explore the different areas. They learned about seed dispersal and looked at different flowers under microscopes.
All of the children in key stage two enjoyed a trip to the Orange Tree Theatre. This led on from the workshop that visited the school and this year the chosen play was ‘The Tempest’.
A visit to Fishbourne Roman Palace marked the end of the ‘Romans in Britain’ topic. Year 3 acted like Roman soldiers for the day: learning how to march, tasting Roman food, trying on armour and practicing different military activities.
There has been a huge focus on the Key Stage 2 production this term and it paid off! The children’s performances in ‘Oliver’ were spectacular and they should be very proud of themselves.
We would like to thank all the parents for their support this year. We hope you have a wonderful summer!
