Friday 19 July
It has been a busy term in Reception, full of trips, events and an array of different visitors. The term began with the arrival of some very tiny visitors. The children did a fantastic job of taking care of the caterpillars which they watched transform first into chrysalides and then into butterflies. They have learned so many new facts about butterflies.
Later in the term, we embarked on a trip to Alice Holt Forest where Reception explored nature using all of their senses. They were challenged to complete a blindfolded course, find coloured wool that was camouflaged into the forest floor and build a home suitable for a forest inhabitant. The children didn’t have to wait long for their next trip as the next week they visited Wisley Gardens. Here they learned all about edible plants and even planted their own beanstalks.
More recently, Reception visited Kingsmeadow for their first ever sports day which great fun. The children transformed themselves into mini athletes as they jumped into a proper long jump pit and ran speedily in lanes along the running track.
The Reception staff are extremely proud of all of the children and how hard they have worked all year. We would also like to say a very big thank you to all of the parents for their help this year, we would not be able to do as many wonderful things without your support.
