Although Year 5 spent last week in isolation they continued to impress us with their hard work and enthusiasm.
In English, the children read a variety of African Tales and wrote an excellent persuasive letter advising a character from one of the stories on what to do regarding his dilemma. They also studied some African poetry and changed the meaning of the poem by replacing some of the adjectives and verbs with antonyms.
In maths, Year 5 have been learning about measurement. They have practised converting different metric and imperial units. In their final week, Year 5 will be learning to convert different units of time.
The children really enjoyed researching famous African figures and creating a fact file about them.
The highlight of the week has been performing in Year 6’s production of Alice in Wonderland. Both Year 5 classes really enjoyed performing their routines and singing all the songs they have learnt this term. We are very proud of them for all their efforts and are excited for the parents to finally see the children’s hard work being paid off when the video is released.
