Like Chitty’s escape from Vulgaria, this final year has gone by in a bit of a blur, but it will be fondly remembered for the experiences shared and memories made.
Their adventure began in September, with a workshop led by ‘Our Amazing Animal World’, enabling them to get up close and personal with a number of animal species (including a Royal Python!). Without a doubt, the highlight of the term had to be the Hindleap Warren residential, where the children came together as a cohort, demonstrating outstanding teamwork, resilience and ambition.
The class found themselves stepping into the shoes of Victorian children during the Spring, getting to grips with what life was like for the rich and poor in Victorian society and experiencing the wonders of the Victorian Schoolroom in Guildford.
A focus on the traditions and culture of Ancient Greece has permeated through much of the learning this term, with a visit to the British Museum bringing knowledge to life and providing inspiration for the children’s own Greek mask making.
However, none of this can compare to the children’s performance of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. It was not just the costumes that sparkled on stage, but the children themselves.
Year 6 - whatever the future has in store, may you always be proud of everything you have achieved at St. Luke’s. Go out into the world with the belief that anything is possible, and always remember to “take a shot, chase the sun, find the beautiful”.
