The Year 1 children began the year with a drama workshop about knights and castles which sparked their imaginations as they danced, fought battles, and went on a mystery tour.
During the Spring term, the children took part in the KS1 production ‘Pirates and Mermaids’. As well as decorating their costumes, the children learned all the production songs and performed wonderfully to the audience.
Later in the term, Year 1 went on their very first school trip to Brooklands Museum. They really enjoyed climbing aboard aircraft, making a mini racing car and looking at all the transport exhibits.
Their second trip was to Wisley Gardens and we certainly could not have had a better day to visit. The weather was wonderful and of course one of the highlights was having a picnic lunch sitting out on the grass. The children also took part in a sensory plant trail and learned all about the giant Redwood trees which grow in the gardens.
Finally, we would like to congratulate all the Year 1 children on their achievements this year, especially in Phonics and Reading.
We wish all the children a great Summer holiday and a wonderful start to Year 2.
