Welcome to Year 2

Below is our most recent blog from Year 2.  This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).  These will be updated every other Friday.

In Year 2 we have been finishing off the year with lots of fun art! We have decided to look at different mediums and artists which specialise in it. Firstly, we looked and Kandinsky's swirls and replicated our own version using watercolour with Mrs Bamber as our guide. We have them proudly displayed in our cloakroom! Then we looked at Picasso and his surreal portraits - we cut out random shapes/eyes and noses in different angles and pieced them together to make a very unusual face. Next week, we are looking into making our own repeating stamp pattern using sponges and string. (Donations of new sponges is greatly appreciated!) We can’t wait to show you what we come up with.​

In maths, we are on the final topic of position and direction. We made our own unusual maps and made our character follow the directions using the terminology of, forward, backwards, up, down, left right, full turn, half turn, quarter turn, clockwise and anti-clockwise. We will be making our very own spinners too to show the anti and clockwise turn soon!
