Blog for Friday 27th September 2024

Another week filled with learning and fun in Year 4 and we can’t quite believe that September is coming to an end – what a fantastic first month it has been!

In English, the children wrote some rather persuasive letters to Joe Todd Stanton (the author of Arthur and Golden Rope) detailing why they should be considered as the hero/heroine in his next adventure book. There have been some great discussions in the classroom, particularly in art and R.E. They looked closely at Henry Ossawa Tanner’s painting ‘The Banjo Lesson’ and had some very insightful things to say about the message they thought it was trying to portray.

In R.E., they compared the bible stories of Jonah and the Whale and Daniel and the Lion’s Den, paying particular attention to the different ways in which the two characters reacted to God’s command.

Science lessons have continued to put a spark in the children where they have been learning about electricity. They used a range of objects made from various materials to investigate: Which materials are conductors and which are insulators? But perhaps the most exciting part of the week was the children starting their long-awaited ukulele lessons.
