Year 4 are still buzzing from their residential trip to Sayers Croft last week. They are extremely excited to share their experience with their school peers and parents at their assembly next week, which they have been very busy practising for.
In maths, area has been the focus of their lessons. They have been counting squares to compare areas of different 2 D shapes to consolidate the fact that different shapes can have the same area. They particularly enjoyed doing an investigation that required them to use their problem-solving skills as a group.
Mrs Allen was very impressed with their performance in their first tag rugby lesson where they learned the basic rules and grasped very quickly that they could only throw the ball behind them.
Reading workshops have been centred around Remembrance Day, with the children discussing fiction and non-fiction texts about world war 1. Although quite sad to read, it allowed the children to empathise with the people who were affected at the time.
In science, the children began a new topic: states of matter. They learned about the arrangement of particles within solids, liquids and gases and how this affects their movement and shape.
