Blog for Friday 27th September 2024

In English, we have been reading Rapunzel by Bethan Woollvin. Last week, the children wrote some brilliant diary entries from the perspective of Rapunzel being trapped in the tower. We discussed what is important to include in a diary entry: time/date, feelings, first person pronouns and events. This week began with some intriguing ingredients in the classroom! The witch from Rapunzel wanted the children to create a potion to help them generate vocabulary for a piece of poetry. The children loved watching the ingredients being mixed together and bubbling. They came up with exciting adjectives such as ‘glittery’, ‘foamy’ and ‘stinky’.

Ball skills is our current unit in PE. The children have enjoyed perfecting their under arm throws and rolling skills.

The children learned about the four countries and capital cities of the UK. They found it interesting observing photos of each capital city and pointing out what they could see. The children answered questions about the UK using information sheets and even had a go at drawing the different nation’s flags!

In science, we discussed different ways in which we can keep healthy and why this is important. Exercise, healthy eating and having a positive attitude are three ways in which we can keep our bodies and minds healthy. The children made informative posters to show this.
