Thank you for attending our parent teacher interviews this week, they were very well attended and it was so lovely to catch up with you all and share your child’s successes. We are so proud of each and every child in our Nursery class.
Last week, we were engaged in our learning about Remembrance Day. Children respectfully marked Remembrance Day with a minute silence and we thought about the brave soldiers and animals who lost their lives in the war. We printed poppy shapes from potatoes, used our subitising skills in maths during a poppy hunt and recorded the total number of poppies found on our clipboards. Some children decided on using tally marks whilst others practised writing numerals.
This week we have been reading the story Owl Babies, children have had the opportunity to retell the story with teddies and puppets and have enjoyed exploring the dark in our dark den. We used torches and battery-operated candles to light our dark den whilst making marks under the table. We also sorted photographs of day time and night time activities with children successfully identifying whether an activity happens during the day or night. We learnt that owls are nocturnal, can you remember any other nocturnal animals?
