Blog for Friday 14th February 2025
Like every update, there is always something going on in reception! Last week, we celebrated Lunar New Year with the Year of the Snake with Tom the reptile man! He brought a variety of different insects and reptiles in for us to meet, stroke and if we wanted to, hold! We were all very brave and everyone at least stroked every single guest… even the cockroach! We had to be very quiet not to scare our new animal friends and gentle when we handled them. We were visited by a cockroach, a leopard gecko and two snakes. Check out some of our pictures!
Then last Friday, we celebrated number day. Firstly, we played a dice rolling game to make our own number bots. The children had to roll a number and then cut out the corresponding robot part. In the afternoon, we were in groups of 6 (2 from each year group) and went on a number hunt all they way up to 20! After all the numbers were found, they went onto the challenge sheet and had to work out addition and subtraction questions with their teammates. It was lots of fun!
Finally, in RE this week we looked at our character virtue of Curiosity. We discussed what curious meant and then made our own magnifying glasses and drew we are curious about inside. We had a variety of questions such as "How does Father Christmas deliver all the presents in the world for one night?"
