Friday 19 July
This term has been a rather jam-packed and busy one. The term kicked off with a trip to Haslemere Museum, where the children learned all about the ancient Egyptian afterlife and mummification. They discovered the gory process of removing the organs and preserving them, found out what the Egyptians believed happened after you die. They were able to study some artefacts and even mummified their own toys.
Arts week was an exciting few days of creating arts-related activities linked to countries around the world. Year 4 focused on Russia and ancient Egypt. The children made some origami Russian dolls, and spent a whole day dedicated to DT; sawing, constructing and decorating wood to make Egyptian thrones.
The children also visited Wat Buddhapadipa, a beautiful Buddhist temple in Wimbledon where they learned a bit more about Buddha and the religion’s beliefs.
Lastly, the class performed at a country dancing festival at Kingsmeadow Stadium where they performed five country-dances and three with the maypole. The children danced beautifully and it was a very enjoyable morning.
