During Science Week, Reception and KS1 enjoyed an engaging virtual visit from veterinary nurse Mandy Kohray.
Mandy explained that she works in a small animal practice and treats animals such as dogs, cats and hamsters. The children learned about the five welfare needs a vet checks during an appointment. These are: health, behaviour, companionship, diet and environment. Mandy showed us some interesting behind the scenes pictures including an x-ray and an empty operating theatre. The children listened very attentively and had some interesting questions for Mandy. They discovered that an average day at the practice is about 9 hours. Tortoises are tricky to treat as they may be hibernating so waking them up can be challenging!
Thank you very much to Mandy and to Miss Smith for organising such an insightful virtual visit!
